Advocacy & Logistics Training
No advocacy experience? No problem! You can have a huge impact during Day at the Capitol even if it’s your first advocacy event. Review the TRU Advocacy Toolkit for a step-by-step guide on advocating for TRU’s mission. Plus, we’ll be offering an advocacy training webinar in April to provide additional guidance on how to be an effective advocate.
Be sure to attend the TRU DATC Logistics Training webinar at 3pm on Tuesday, April 18 where we will review plans and share everything you need to know to prepare for our annual advocacy day. Register here to attend the Logistics Training webinar.
Want another great way to prepare for Day at the Capitol? Get familiar with our key advocacy issues: MSA funding and comprehensive clean indoor air policies. The better you understand the issues, the greater impact you’ll have as an advocate on event day!
Legislative Visits
Day at the Capitol is all about giving TRU members an opportunity to make their voices heard. TRU groups will meet with state legislators to share their perspective on the importance of TRU’s key advocacy issues – MSA funding and comprehensive clean indoor air policies. TRU members are also encouraged to share their story of how nicotine and tobacco have impacted them and the importance of TRU.

Press Conference
Participants and the general public are invited to attend our press conference to close out the Day at the Capitol festivities. Hear from lung health experts and our very own TRU Ambassadors, plus learn more about the importance of tobacco prevention and control programming in PA.
Youth Activities
In addition to meeting with their legislators, TRU groups will take part in fun activities to get prepared and geared up for the day. These activities include an engaging presentation with Patrick ‘Pacman’ Perez, signing our TRU banner, and filling out TRU birthday cards for legislators.

TRU Advisors
Have you registered your TRU group for the 2022-2023 school year? All youth participating in Day at the Capitol must be part of a registered TRU group. Register your TRU group here.
