2019 DAY AT THE CAPITOL

Day at the Capitol was held on May 7, 2019 at the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg, PA!
Over 600 TRU Youth were registered to attend this exciting event. Hundreds of youth from across the state came together to advocate for an important issue that really matters to them – Tobacco 21 – raising the legal age of sale for all tobacco products from 18 to 21. These youth advocates really made a difference in speaking with their legislators!
In addition to meeting with their legislators, they also took part in fun activities to get prepared and geared up for the day. These activities included engaging Tobacco 21 presentations, drawing out messages of support with our Talk with Chalk activity at the Tobacco 21 Uprisings tent, signing paper arrows to create a Chains for Change in support of Tobacco 21, and even writing postcards to their legislators.
These hundreds of TRU Advocates wrapped up the day with a rally that was kicked off by one of our very own Tobacco 21 TRU Ambassadors. During this rally, our other Tobacco 21 TRU Ambassadors for this year were also rewarded for their awesome participation, dedication to the program and advocating for tobacco-free lifestyles, and hard work.
