Youth from Tobacco Resistance Unit (TRU) from Weed and Seed Hot Spots in Oil city, including Keystone SMILES staff, AmeriCorps members will be participating in the #BlowBubblesNotSmoke Campaign activity. Youth and staff will blow bubble instead of smoke at today’s Kick Butts Day event. The group will also tweet in solidarity with other TRU in PA and youth around the country to raise awareness of the dangers of tobacco use and nicotine as well as secondhand smoke.

* Kick Butts DayKick Butts Day

Kick Butts Day is a national day of activism that empowers youth to stand out, speak up and seize control against Big Tobacco. Kick Butts Day is organized by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. Teachers, youth leaders and health advocates will be encouraged to organize events to: Raise awareness of the problem of tobacco use in their state or community; Encourage youth to reject the tobacco industry’s deceptive marketing and stay tobacco-free; and Urge elected officials to take action to protect kids from tobacco.

* Can You Escape? Can You Escape?

Time: 8:33 am

YWCA Titusville and NWPA Tobacco Control Program have teamed up for Kick Butts Day! Youth and Families are invited to see if they can “Escape” before the room fills with smoke. Participants must answer a series of clues that are focused on dangers of tobacco products.
